For more than twenty-five years, Tim Nenninger has been helping people make sense of their financial lives. As a Principal at Stonebridge Financial Group, he works with families, business owners, and individuals who want a steady hand to guide them through decisions about retirement, investments, and planning for the future. Over the years, he has seen markets change and new strategies come and go, but one thing has never changed: his belief that the client always comes first.
Tim’s clients often say they value how approachable he is. He has a way of breaking down complex topics into everyday language, which helps people feel comfortable and confident. Whether it is choosing investments, setting up a retirement plan, or preparing for the unexpected, he makes sure his advice fits the person in front of him, not a generic formula. That personal connection is what keeps many of his client relationships going strong after decades.
Education & Background
Tim’s journey in finance started at Truman State University, where he earned his business degree. After graduating, he joined Lincoln Financial Advisors, a firm known for its tough and thorough training program. It was a demanding place to begin a career, but it gave him the foundation he needed. By the end of his first year, Tim had already been recognized as one of the firm’s promising planners, which reinforced that he had chosen the right path.
Those early years taught him lessons he still carries with him today. He learned that success as an advisor is not just about knowing the numbers but about knowing people. Listening closely, asking good questions, and understanding someone’s goals and values are just as important as the technical details. In 2003, Tim took those lessons with him when he co-founded Stonebridge Financial Group. Starting the firm from scratch was a challenge, but it gave him the freedom to build a practice around the principle of independence, advice focused only on what is best for the client.
Designations & Memberships
Tim has always believed that clients deserve advice they can trust, which is why in 2010 he earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation. For him, this was not just another certification to put on a business card. It was a way to formalize the standard he already held himself to: acting in the best interests of his clients at all times.
He often explains that AIF® is more than a title. It represents a commitment to integrity and responsibility. Every recommendation he makes, from the smallest decision to the biggest plan, is filtered through that promise. He views fiduciary duty not as an obligation but as the core of who he is as an advisor. When someone trusts him with their future, he takes that trust seriously. To Tim, that responsibility is what makes the work meaningful, and it is what keeps him striving to be better each day.
Community Involvement
Community has always been important to Tim, and much of his involvement has centered around youth sports. He served on the Board of the Eureka Sports Association, eventually stepping into the role of President. There, he worked with others to create programs that gave kids the chance to play, grow, and learn through athletics. He believes sports teach lessons about discipline, teamwork, and perseverance that last a lifetime.
Tim also served as Secretary on the Board of the St. Louis West Athletic Association, a group that coordinated local baseball and softball leagues. For him, volunteering in these roles was not just about organizing schedules or managing logistics. It was about building a stronger community, supporting families, and making sure kids had the chance to create lasting memories. Those years of service left him with friendships and experiences that he treasures as much as any professional milestone.
Personal Life
Tim has deep roots in St. Louis, where he was raised and where he and his wife, Niki, now make their home in Eureka. Together, they raised three boys: Drew, Brady, and Colby, and their family also includes Bear, the family dog who keeps life interesting. Family has always been Tim’s anchor. His choices in work and life have consistently been guided by the desire to provide for them and spend quality time together.
Outside the office, Tim enjoys staying active. Pickleball has become one of his favorite hobbies, and he loves the mix of competition and community it provides. He is also an avid fisherman and spends as much time as possible at the lake, which has become a special retreat for his family. Coaching his sons’ sports teams has been one of the great joys of his life, giving him countless memories and a chance to bond with them through the games they love. A devoted Cardinals fan, he still finds time to catch baseball games whenever he can.
